Roche Group engaged us to shape the retail and public realm vision for a former industrial site on Balmain Road, working alongside CHROFI. Lilyfield has a proud high-street history and a strong creative community, and the opportunity was to respond to the Inner West's increased density with a precinct that feels locally relevant and earns its place among Sydney's best-loved retail strips.
Our vision was for a precinct that reads like a cool inner-city high street, brought together under one roof. We organised the site into a series of micro precincts that each hold their own character while working as one destination, woven through a generous public realm.
We retained the heritage sheds and put them to work, striking the balance between hospitality, wellness, creative making, cultural uses, makers and light industrial uses across the precinct. We delivered the full strategy to support design and feasibility, including the project vision, master planning, precinct strategy, financial modelling and retail services planning. The result celebrates Lilyfield's industrial heritage and gives residents and Inner West locals a non-typical mixed use destination to adopt as their own.
