Finger Wharf at Woolloomooloo is a landmark adaptive reuse project by Walker, transforming Sydney’s historic wharf into a distinctive waterfront hospitality destination. Originally constructed in 1915, the 400 metre structure is the longest timber piled wharf in the world, and was reimagined in 1999 as a vibrant mixed-use precinct combining hotel, residential and a curated dining offer set along the harbour’s edge.
Working closely with Walker, we helped shape the vision for the precinct’s hospitality offering as part of its adaptive reuse, repositioning Woolloomooloo as a premier dining destination. Our role focused on curating and leasing the ground plane, attracting leading restaurateurs from the CBD and introducing them to the wharf for the first time.
The strategy centred on creating a distinctive waterfront experience, drawing on the unique character and scale of the wharf to deliver a high quality and destination driven food and beverage mix. This approach established Finger Wharf as an iconic Sydney dining precinct and set a benchmark for adaptive reuse and waterfront placemaking.
