The Central Courtyard Precinct at Macquarie University is one of the most significant transformations undertaken on the campus in more than fifty years, establishing a new civic heart for the university community. Delivered in collaboration with Architectus and Aspect Studios, the project reimagines the centre of the campus as a vibrant gathering place where students, staff and visitors come together throughout the day and evening.
Developed through deep collaboration over several years from concept to completion, the precinct introduces a landscaped courtyard framed by hospitality and student-focused spaces that bring new life to the campus environment. Generous outdoor seating, shaded gardens and active frontages create a welcoming public realm that supports both everyday campus life and larger social gatherings.
Working closely with the university and design team, we developed the precinct vision and retail master plan before leading the curation and leasing of the hospitality offer. The final precinct brings together 17 food and beverage operators, creating a diverse dining destination that has quickly become the social centre of campus life and one of the most successful public spaces at Macquarie University.
