Commercial Structure
1 Elizabeth is a landmark commercial tower within Sydney’s Martin Place Metro precinct, home to Macquarie Group’s new global headquarters and integrated directly with the new Martin Place Metro Station. Positioned at the heart of Sydney’s financial district, the project forms part of a major transport led renewal of the city centre, bringing together workplace, retail, dining, public domain and underground pedestrian connections within one highly connected precinct.
Working alongside JPW and Grimshaw, Retail Strategy Group contributed to the master plan design for the retail environment and its integration with Martin Place Metro. Over approximately six months of design workshops, our team helped shape how retail, hospitality and everyday amenity could support the movement of commuters, workers and visitors through the precinct, while reinforcing the quality and character of the wider development.
For clients Lendlease and Macquarie Bank, we helped translate the retail vision into the master plan and advised on the commercial structure and services requirements for the retail tenancies. This included considering the relationship between station entries, workplace arrival, pedestrian connections, public space and operational functionality. The result is a highly integrated retail precinct at the heart of Sydney’s CBD, connecting transport, workplace, hospitality and public life within one of the city’s most important commercial addresses.
