Commercial Structure
Rising above the northern entrance to Gadigal Station, Parkline Place represents a new benchmark for transit integrated commercial development in Sydney’s CBD. Positioned directly above one of the city’s most significant new metro gateways, the tower occupies a highly prominent civic address at the intersection of transport, workplace and public life. Working in close collaboration with Foster + Partners and Cox Architecture, we developed a distinctive retail vision to ensure the seamless integration of retail within this vertically layered station precinct.
The strategy responds to the intensity of metro generated movement, carefully mapping commuter lines from the station into the surrounding CBD grid. Retail is positioned to anchor both city facing corners along Park Street, capturing foot traffic while establishing a strong visual and commercial presence at ground level. Activation extends upward into the commercial tower, reinforcing a layered experience where workplace, hospitality and convenience retail are interwoven rather than separated.
The precinct is now home to Park St Diner, the latest venue by The Grounds of Alexandria, bringing a distinctive hospitality anchor to the station plaza and reinforcing the site’s destination appeal beyond peak commuter hours. By aligning retail experience with commuter flow, workplace demand and public realm presence, the vision supports a cohesive arrival sequence that strengthens the identity of the station precinct while contributing to the broader vitality and evolution of Sydney’s CBD.
