The University of Newcastle City Campus Student Accommodation project is a major new residential building delivered in the heart of Newcastle’s CBD, supporting the continued expansion of the university’s city campus. Designed by Architectus, the development provides contemporary student living integrated with the surrounding innovation precinct, strengthening the connection between the university, the city and the broader community.

Located adjacent to the University’s NeW Space campus, the building introduces a new layer of student life within Newcastle’s revitalised city centre. Communal spaces, study areas and shared facilities are organised throughout the building to support connection, wellbeing and the everyday rhythms of student life while reinforcing the vibrancy of the city campus environment.

Working with the University of Newcastle and Architectus, we refined the ground floor retail strategy and integrated the appropriate scale of retail within the building. The result is a 150m2 café that acts as the social heart of the development, closely connected to internal student spaces and outdoor landscaped areas, creating a welcoming environment for both residents and the wider campus community. Following the Q Building, the student tower is the second stage of the University of Newcastle City Master Plan.
